Ramadhan and Eid Food Distribution information – May 2020

Below is some more information about the food distribution as you requested and also attached is a spreadsheet with 3 sheets for Donations List, Beneficiaries List and the Food items/Quantities distributed. The photos of the event are also attached

Some points to note as per your request are:

  1. Funds were transferred to Kenya on 30th April, 19th  May, 22nd May 2020 through Wave International Money transfer service to Safaricom Mobile Money service in Kenya

  2. Funds were sent to Diko Akinyi who is a food wholesale shop owner in Logologo trading centre in Marsabit county. This was chosen because it was the most reliable for coordination of stocks and repackaging the food into required portions for families.

  3. Local community leaders and women groups were asked to identify the most needy families in the community so that they can be supported with food supplies.

  4. Food was collected by recipients and photos shared of the distribution as attached. The photos were received via WhatsApp.

Number of beneficiaries:

A total of 10 families comprising of 57 parents and 149 children benefited from the kind donations from the local Gloucester community. The total number of individuals added up to 206 (i.e. parents and children added together

ROUND ONE – Food Distribution on 30th April 2020

  • Sugar 3 bags of 50kgs each =150kgs of sugar

  • Rice 8 bags of  @25kgs each = 200kgs total

  • Tea bags – 1bag of 48 pieces

  • Maize/Corn flour 40 x 24=960Kgs

  • Wheat/Plain Flour 3 bags x 24= 72Kgs

  • Salt – 2 bags x24 = 48kgs

  • Cooking Oil – 2 bags x 24 = 48kgs

  • Pasta – 4 bags x 12 = 48pieces

  • Spices 24x25 = 600 pieces

ROUND TWO - Food Distribution on 22nd May 2020

  • Rice 16 bags of  @25kgs each = 400kgs total

  • Sugar 6 bags of 50kgs each =300kgs of sugar

  • Tea bags – 2 bags of 96 pieces

  • Maize/Corn flour 18 bags of 432kgs

  • Wheat/Plain Floor 6 bags =144kgs  

  • Salt – 4 bags of 96pieces

  • Cooking Oil – 8 bags x 24=192kgs

  • Pasta – 6 bags x 12 = 72pieces

  • Spices  - 50 bags x 24=1200 pieces

  • Sachets

A cow/bull was also bought and slaughtered on Eid day and meat distributed to the families on the day.
